Primer

Nothing Much To Show....

It was one of Those very busy weeks, Dear Readers, when it seemed as though there was no Time for making Anything, even though there had been an extra hour added to the calendar recently! And now that it is "standard Time" again, it is dark in the evenings when I get home and that makes it really hard to photograph anything! But I did manage to get one small step accomplished on the Secret Christmas House kit! And that was to put primer on all the surfaces prior to gluing any of the decorative papers on. The instructions for this kit are very "visual" meaning they are almost entirely pictures with very little written direction to follow. In one of the pictures showing the papers for the walls glued on, I noticed the interior surfaces looked as if they had been painted white.... so I am assuming the entire house should be "primed" to protect the wood before gluing the papers on. The above shot shows the house with the primer done. I was about to start right in on gluing the wall papers when I noticed that there were papers for the floors, but not for the ceilings! Well, I am sure you know how I feel about un-decorated ceilings! I decided that I could not proceed until I had painted all the ceilings.... which was going to require that I study the decor for each room that is already provided....! I am really trying to just complete this kit without going too far off the plan!

So while I was pondering those ceilings,
I noticed another tiny house that Pollyanna has found...

She has decided that she needs to "practice" this
miniature dollhouse decorating
before she starts on the beautiful big cabinet
which she is calling "Paradise Hall".
This smaller house will not need to be so grand and elegant.
She can learn different techniques without worrying
that she will mess it up too much!

She has managed to get the first coat
of primer on all the rooms.
But she forgot about the front wall.
It isn't attached and doesn't fit right.

She wonders if Maybe she should try to add hinges
so it would open like a cupboard.....
Which would need to be done before she painted any more walls!
Hmmmmmm.......
This was going to require some planning!

Well, Dear Readers, I hope you don't mind
if I leave you here
with Nothing much to show but the Primer!

  1. It is a difficult season to take nice pictures of our miniature worlds indeed. I took my chance today as a ray of sunshine tickled my doll house.
I think young Pollyanna is right to try on the other house first. It will be interesting to follow both projects! Good luck!

    1. Hi Veronique! The dark season is here and we have to be quick to catch the sunlight. The mini dollhouses would All get built faster if I could get organized! LOL! And maybe even just follow the plan in stead of straying into more challenging territory! We will see what happens! Thank you for commenting!

  2. Hooray!!! Another project!!! *doing-the-happy-dance* Please say "thank you from the bottom of my heart" to Pollyanna... ;O) And there's no need to apologize for a pure-primer-post... neverever before primer has been so fascinating! And now I'm looking forward to see tiny hinges in your next post... because there can't be any doubt about the tiny dollhouse's front getting hinges. I mean we're talking about a dollhouse at your place... Tiny dollhouse cabinet may be named "Paradise Hall"... but your place is known as "Hinges Paradise"! *grin*

    Hugs
Birgit (who almost forgot to say the little detail with the brushes in the tin is gorgeous)

    1. Hi Birgit! I have to admit I am a little afraid to try to put hinges on this house! (But I will have to try now that I have thought of it....!) And I suppose I couldn't let Pollyanna get away with an organized one dollhouse project at a time kind of workroom! LOL! That would take me too long to set up! :)So I guess we will end up having plenty of posts about building tiny rooms... and there is no reason to keep the number of projects under control.... unless Arthur gets annoyed by the mess and unfinished houses! LOL! I am so glad you are enjoying this new adventure into mini minis!!! :)

  3. I AGREE with Brigit's forecast regarding the hinges in store for Polyanna's "practice" house.
The primer is a Must and I love the way it immediately freshens everything up and makes it look New before one begins.
And once the papers are on and the ceilings are finished, I KNOW that these teeny tiny houses( by the time you are done Betsy)- will have become HOMES. :D

    1. Hi Elizabeth! Yes, they have to become homes! I have too many Teeny Tiny Ladies all looking for places to live! LOL! And once we have the tiny rooms... well, we just have to see how much we can fit into them! LOL! As for the hinges.... they are inevitable... but I have to admit I think they will be difficult so I am procrastinating! Stay tuned! :)

  4. Hi Betsy! And for teasing you: I agree with Birgit AND Elizabeth regarding the hinges :D!! No, I'm kidding, but I really love to see again another project too. I bet that both of your tiny houses will get enough of the mini magic of your talented hands, Betsy, have fun!!
I agree that this season isn't good for taking good pictures, I have the same problem ;)!
    Warm hug, Ilona

    1. Hi Ilona! Yes, the dark is making photography difficult. But the projects have to have work done and that means taking pictures too! I am hoping my ideas for the tiny hinges will work on this little house..... but I am sure it will be challenging! And I hope I get some work done on all these little houses.... because we are now in Christmas Card season which keeps me very busy! :) We will see!

  5. Maybe Mercury is retrograde again. Seems one can't move without a boulder appearing in the road... We will all eagerly await the embellishment to the Christmas house!

    1. Hi Mom! No, it is not Mercury's fault right now! LOL! But I agree there have been an awful lot of challenges lately! The tiny houses at least don't take up much space! LOL! We will see how much I get done by Christmas... as usual, things just take longer than I expect! :)
