Daydreaming Again....

Nothing Got Done... (But I went shopping)

It was a Busy weekend at the end of a Busy week, Dear Readers, so I must confess that NOTHING got done in my Mini Building world! But that does Not mean I have Nothing to show you.... !
To begin with, My sister came for a brief visit so we did a lot of Reviewing the various Projects I have under way.... (Oh... will I Ever get back to the other projects...?)
She had to see the latest developments in the Tree House.....
From the Chinoiserie bedroom......

to the spiral stairs leading to the next level.....
Which you can sort of see to the left at the top....
Still a Long way to go....

And she had to visit the Lovely Old Dollhouse....

Where Hazel still relaxes in the Kitchen.....
And of course she had to see the Completed floor of the Castle Great Hall .....

Where she met Anna Maria and Samuel Whiskers out for a stroll....!
And then the Chapel....

Where Nothing has changed for Centuries... (or so it seems...)

But that just kept us busy for the afternoon....
What I really want to show you are the items I purchased on Sunday ....
When I went to the Miniatures Show at Sturbridge....
I have never been to one of these Fairs before....
(I was only a Little overwhelmed....!

I bought some Tiny scissors! And a thimble!

(Isn't it interesting.... the things we choose.....!)

I also got an assortment of artwork in a variety of cast metal frames....

Chosen more for the frames than the art ......
Most of these will be for the Victorian Cupboard House....
(When I eventually get back to working on it...!)

And I found a porcelain Nativity that HAD to come home with me....
(I didn't have a Porcelain one.....)

Of course I ran out of Money LONG before I ran out of wishes....

But not before I had seen this Tiny Tiny Little porcelain doll.....

Hand made and with a crocheted dress......
(She's nearly the cutest thing I've ever seen...!)

She's only One inch tall!

She's the first Doll's doll I have bought.......

I Wonder who she belongs to.....?
And What her name is ....?
And What her story will be...?

So You see, Nothing Got Done.....
But I've been Daydreaming Again.....

You found some great mini treasures. I can't believe how teeny the thimble is.

  5. The little doll is amazing! And what a way to show her off, nestled in one of your real roses! Also the frames - my favorite is the one which is most nearly round.
Are you actually going to build more rooms in the tree house above the bedroom with the domed ceiling?
    After all, you're the architect!
    Lots of love,
    Mom

    1. Hi Mom! The Tree House is only Half way done..... More floors above the domed ceiling are not a problem... the dome has no opening to the sky above it.... So Of course there will be more rooms!!!

  7. I kind of envy your sister... because she was able to look at all of these miracles with her own eyes... ;O) You've made some fantastic purchases - and that tiny doll... so lovely. For me being no more able to knit and crochet due to my arm problems it's beyond imagination that somebody is able to crochet or knit so small... I'm really curious who is going to be the lucky one to play with this doll.

    Greetings

    1. I, too, am amazed at the tiny crochet, Birgit!!! I cannot imagine how Any part of this doll was made... she makes my Rats look Large!!! I hope you will not mind being in suspense about the doll's story for a while.... sometimes these stories need to brew.... and I seem to be having a problem with not enough Houses for all my dolls and their families.... LOL!!!

    1. Hi Elizabeth! It was truly an experience to remember... Hours and Hours poring over all those displays.... so many things to choose from... so little money.... I was trying to only buy what I couldn't make for myself... porcelain and metal items are high on the list! The doll was so unexpected.... not really on my list at all... but irresistible in the end! I am so glad I bought her... she really is enchantingly lovely in "person"! And the tiny scissors I have coveted for a long time... the thimble was an unexpected bonus! It is discoveries like that that make this hobby so much fun! Who knew they even made thimbles that small!!!

    1. Thank you Sharee! The Castle Hall floor took me a couple of years to make all the tiles! I only finished it last December... I am very happy with it... but I agonized over every step! And the little doll is so cute.... she is going to make me tell her story.... but it will take a while!

  12. Reading this post brought back memories of Arnhem, my 1st fair. I have had to travel so far to see my 1st and of course, I was completely ..no no, like yous said , just a LITTLE overwhelmed :). teehee.

Everytime you pick up a piece and decide to bring it back, you have already conjured in your head, the 10s or dozens of stories around it, don't you? And everyone from that 1st fair will have a special place always.

You have made so much progress with all your projects, I am sure your sister and you have a great time bonding over them :). Please send my warmest regards to your sis and give her a hug and a kiss from me :)

    1. Thank you, Sans! I always show her your blog when we are together... so it is like you are there too.. (well.. almost...!) But I always want her to see some of the things other people are doing that I find so fascinating....!
And yes... the stories "come with" the items... I just can't help it!! I am trying to figure out how to make the settings I need to tell these stories.... Not enough Houses for all of them! Of course... I also want to build the houses I "see" in the stories.... I think I need to build a Stage... and change the scenery to fit the story.... But that is really a whole other project....! We shall see what I manage to come up with.... and hopefully it won't take me Forever!!!

    1. Hi Iris! I am really glad I went to Sturbridge... I really only heard about it a couple of weeks before the date.... but I am really glad I went! It is amazing to see so many items of such high quality up close and all in one place! But a little overwhelming too! And unfortunately I also have the problem of starting too many new dollhouses before the others are finished.... but wait... that's the FUN of it....! So maybe it really isn't a problem at all! LOL!!!

  15. Hi Betsy,

Sounds like you had fun with your sister. And how exciting that you went to a dolls house show; you got some lovely things, the doll is quite charming, I love the scissors and thimble (how small is that!!!) and the collection of frames are great too, I especially like the little gothic style one.

I think I may be right in thinking that this won't be the only dolls house show you visit from now on!! ;o)

    hugs
    Andy

(PS I haven't forgotten about the beads, just been really busy here recently!!)
