Teeny Tiny Dolls

Pollyanna Goes Shopping....

I Think it was Inevitable, Dear Readers, that Pollyanna would come across that Fascinating Dollhouse Cabinet as she was browsing in a Trendy Local Shopping Mall, and that she would be smitten! She can hardly believe that she Never Knew that something as Marvelous as this Cabinet Dollhouse even existed! Where has this been all my life, she wondered, as she suddenly saw all the potential for making a one-of-a-kind miniature house! It didn't matter at all that she had Nowhere to put it... and she hadn't even asked about the price! She knew she had to bring it home with her! She hurried to find Arthur so she could show him her Discovery!
"Isn't it just Amazing?" she asks him.

Arthur isn't Quite so sure!
"What will you Do with it... ?" he asks.
"Well... I'll decorate it...." explains Pollyanna.
"It will make a Wonderful practice piece
to try out different decorating..." she argues...
although she really just wants to fill it full
of everything she has always wanted but never could have....
but she couldn't explain that to Arthur...
he might feel badly that they
don't have everything she ever wanted....
"It's so big..." said Arthur, trying not to sound critical...
"Where will you keep it?"
"Ummmm...." said Pollyanna...
"I haven't figured that out yet....
But I'm Sure we can make room for it
Somewhere in that Big Old House...
even if we have to clear out the mess in the attic....
I could make a workroom up there" she added excitedly!
Arthur is not looking convinced!
"Can we even fit it up those stairs?" he asks.
"Of course we can!" said Pollyanna...
determined to find a way.

And while Pollyanna is trying to convince Arthur of
the Wonderful Opportunity that is This Cabinet,
Dear Readers, I have been trying to dress the Teeny Tiny dolls!
Lady Evelyn de Paradise needed a Gown Worthy of her stature
as the First Lady of The Teeny Tiny Dolls!
(Do remember to poke the pictures to see them larger!)

I started with a tiny scrap of maroon velvet
that has lovely glittery flowers on it....
I glued it on as best as I could and made a "train" at the back....

Of course, the cloth is a little bulky...
but I was determined that I use this fabric!
And then I added a ribbon
wrapped around her torso for the top of the gown....

Surely it is a Gown from the House of Worth at the very least!
The signature asymmetrical glitter "embroidery"
and the long train that resembles a peacock's tail....

Of course, it is not easy getting good pictures of this gown!

Is that better?
I know she looks so matronly...
but she is the eldest of seven sisters....
and so far, she is the only one who is married....!
Here, let me introduce you to a couple of her sisters...

Please excuse their nakedness....
we are just getting started, after all!
Here I have painted several of the little people...
and then I add their hair....

This one is Virginia..... she is the next eldest sister.
I start by gluing a "knot" of sewing thread to the top of the head....

And then when the knot has completely dried,
I gradually add glue to the thread and wind it around the head...
Eventually it looks like a hairstyle with a bun at the top.
But I wanted to try something fancier on the next sister....

I wanted to try to make some curls....
This sister is named Salome...
And she is probably too pretty for her own good!

Once I had added enough curls,
I wrapped the thread around the bun the same as for the others...
And then I needed to give them each a lace petticoat....

At which point, Lady Evelyn came by to see how they were looking....

Clearly, we have a long way to go!

But Lady Evelyn has had a lot on her mind....
She is trying to find appropriate housing for all of them....

It is not easy, because nothing seems to be Ready for living in....

Or it is completely the wrong scale!

"But perhaps something very nice
can be made of this one", she is thinking....
When suddenly the house is opened wide...!
"Oh", says Pollyanna in surprise.
"Look, Arthur!" she exclaims.
"It even has a little doll inside!"
"We'll have to bring her home too...!"

Well, Dear Readers, Clearly I am
just getting started with the Teeny Tiny Dolls....
And Pollyanna is just getting started with her Shopping!

  1. Pollyanna and I are somehow alike in wanting to buy what we love before making sure there is room for it in our home. But like me,
she'll find the perfect spot for it.
Your tiny characters are already very cute. I love their various hair styles.

  2. Hello Betsy,
I do hope Pollyanna gets her way... I think she will ;)It is such a beautifully detailed dollhouse. Speaking of beautiful, Lady Evelyn looks fantastic! I would not have the patience to even begin to think about working in that scale. Her dress looks wonderful in the pictures and I can't wait to see her sisters all dressed up. Yet again, you have inspired and fascinated me!

    1. Hi Ilona! I am glad you are feeling better! The little dolls are amazingly hard to work with ... but I really want to make them as detailed as possible! I just have to find the smallest pieces of material! LOL! And now I have to prepare Pollyanna's workroom too! Yes, she will get the house! :)

  5. Hi, Betsy - It was such fun to read about Lady Evelyn and her sisters. And it's interesting that my oldest sister's name is Evelyn. But there are only five sisters after her, of whom I'm second oldest. But still a sort of comparison. We're all a bit bigger, though, than Lady Evelyn and her sisters! Lady Evelyn's gown is gorgeous. What amazing, nimble fingers you must have to work in that teensy scale! I'm eager to know how Pollyanna and Arthur resolve their shopping dilemma. I hope Pollyanna will be able to take that marvelous dollhouse cabinet home with her. There's always room for one more!

    1. Hi Marjorie! I Love hearing about your sisters and the name similarity! That makes it easier to imagine them! I just love to make up stories... so we shall see what becomes of all these little Ladies! There will have to be a few gentlemen too! I have a very sharp pointed pair of tweezers that are indispensable! And a magnifying glass helps too! LOL! The tricky part is using a small enough bit of glue at a time... and only gluing a tiny bit at a time!

    1. Hee hee, They are taking over, Simon! LOL! At first I thought I would just make one or two... to see how difficult it would be... but they are so small.... and easy to start! LOL! It is the hair and clothes that are so challenging! This is being a lot of fun!

  9. I KNEW that there would be a great new story for this Amazing Teeny Tiny House, I didn't think it would be this soon! ;P
I do believe Betsy that the smaller the scale- the MORE you like it!
It is a good thing that Lady Evelyn and her sisters will be going home with Arthur and Polyanna, because I believe that it is high time for Polyanna to be involved in another new adventure too! :D

    1. Dear Elizabeth... you know me better than I know myself! LOL! I had NO idea Pollyanna was going to get involved!!! But now it seems so Obvious! And I will have to make the workroom.... and the decorating... and the tiny dolls... who each have their Own Ideas! LOL! I am finding it intriguing to try to make things for this scale... so you are probably Right, the Smaller the Better!!! And lets just not even think about all the other projects waiting....! :)

I am having a lot of fun with these teeny dolls... just trying to figure out how to make the clothes is half the challenge! But now I want to make a whole bunch of beautiful little gowns...! LOL! 13. I'm really wondering why Arthur continues to ask silly questions... he should know better by now: Pollyanna will have this lovely dollhouse cabinet... and finding a place for it will be a problem to solve easily... *grin* Btw - their local shopping mall looks very trendy indeed! Well, it was no surprise to find Pollyanna in love with this stunning dollhouse cabinet - but it was a big surprise to read the tiny ladies are a growing community of seven sisters... with Lady Evelyn de Paradise as the eldest. What a name! And what an appearance in that gown... a true lady despite her *ahem* size... She looks great (!) in every location - but perfect in Pollyanna's (Arthur, you never had a chance!) dollhouse. Ah, all the new stories that are about to come... great! ;O)

    1. Dear Birgit, you are so right... Arthur never had a chance! LOL! But the "easy" problem solving.... that is requiring quite a bit of work on MY part too! LOL! I was not at all ready for Pollyanna to jump in and request a Workroom.... it was difficult enough that there are now seven little sisters.... and a "Lord" or two needing to be finished and dressed.... what have I gotten myself into? LOL!!! As for the Trendy Shopping mall.... you must understand that this cannot be considered as "the reveal" for this little corner.... It just came in so handy.... but oh my goodness that is how so many of my projects start...... so we shall see what happens next! :)
