How Time Passes...

Picking Up The Pieces.....

It could Not have been all that Long Ago, Dear Readers, that we left Daphne staring at her daughter Renee as the young lawyer Raymond read her a story, "showing the new Nanny how it is done"! I hope you will forgive me for stretching Time to it's fullest, and at long last returning to try and Pick up the pieces of Daphne's Story as if no time has passed at all! If you need to be reminded of where it last was left (or When!) you can return to THIS post... and try to trace the story back into it's already distant origins! I will only go so far as to remind you that Daphne had arrived at the deMontaigne Town House barely an hour ago, hoping that she might be allowed to see her daughter (whom she had left with the child's Grandparents shortly after her birth) and perhaps be allowed to be a small part of her child's life. Never in her wildest Dreams had she thought she would find herself hired to be the new Nanny! But so it was, and she could hardly believe it was really happening! The family's Lawyer, Raymond du Lac, who had taken to Renee from the beginning, and often took care of her when they were "between Nannies", was not at all pleased to find that the Woman who had given up her child all those years ago, was now being allowed to be, not just a part of the child's life, but her main caregiver! He did not Trust her in the slightest, and had no intention of leaving Renee completely in her care!

But the household, it seemed, was eager to meet the new Nanny,
and so the Cook was quick to bring Renee's lunch up to the Nursery!

"Here is your lunch, Little One" he said to Renee.
Then he turned to Daphne, and said "Bonjour Mademoiselle,"
"I am Pierre, and I would be happy to discuss the menu
for our Little One at your convenience!"
"Oh! Thank you," said Daphne, "Perhaps later", she added.

Renee was quick to sit at her little table.
Raymond knew it was time for him to depart....
he had appointments and plenty of work waiting for him.

He would leave them for now....
but he would be sure to check in again later!

For a moment he stared at Daphne.
In his heart he felt like saying "you cannot have her!"
But he knew that was not his right to decide,
and so he had better keep his thoughts to himself.

He turned and picked up his bag and left.

There was a moment of awkward silence.

Daphne pulled up a stool and sat.
She didn't know what to say!
She couldn't believe that in all her fantasies of being with her child,
she had never thought about what she would say!
There was so much that she wanted to say...
and so much that she could Not say!

"Why don't we eat our lunch,
and then you can show me where you like to play" she finally said.
Renee nodded. "I like to play in the Park!" she said.
"We go every day" she added.
"I would like to see this Park" said Daphne.
And so it wasn't very much later that they set out for the Park.

It looked so different from the last time she had come here!
The afternoon sunlight shone through the trees
and cast delicate shadows on the paths.

It seemed to be empty except for the birds.

Renee went running ahead towards the Fountain...

Daphne could not believe This was her little girl!
She was so beautiful!
And suddenly Daphne felt like weeping for all the lost Time....

She had missed So much!

She was going to Treasure every moment together....

There was so much to Discover!

She wanted to show her the World.....

She wanted so much more than she ever thought she could have!

And as Daphne thought that thought,
 she approached the fountain,
and it Began to glow with an unearthly brilliance!

It took Daphne's Breath away!

It was more than just the light......

There was a Power that pulsed and poured around them....

Daphne was mesmerized....
and suddenly she recalled the Dreams...
Of standing at a fountain and seeing a child....

But then a cloud passed over the sun.....
and Renee turned to run after the birds.....

And the Park was once again just the Park......

The memory of the Dream faded with the shadows.....

And Renee was once again just the little girl
she desperately wanted to get to know...
Picking up pieces of bread to throw to the birds!

She couldn't believe how quickly her Life had changed!
How lucky she was to have another chance with her child!

She so desperately wanted to do it right this Time!
She could not ever recover those missing years....
but she could make sure that she would never leave her again!
Well, Dear Readers, I am not sorry to have to tell you
that this is NOT the end of the Story!
I am sure you can Imagine that Raymond is not willing to let go of Renee,
and Yvonne is not willing to allow Daphne to be a Mother to Renee...
and Time itself is not willing to stand completely Still...
But for now, as Time Passes,
I am just Trying to pick up the pieces of Daphne's Story!

  5. Oh my... it was soooooooo good to go back to the park and see Captain Sparrow and his companions are fine and doing well... *grin* But without any more mocking - thank you very much (and I mean VERY MUCH!!!) for finally going on with Daphne's story. You've made fantastic pictures to headline this wonderful plot and you've managed to continue with this story in a touching but yet straight way. It's no surprise Daphne is not knowing well what to say and what to do and how to react - but I have no doubt this won't be for long. Well, let's see how this will continue, as usual I can't wait for the next episode...

    Hugs

    1. Dear Birgit... where would we be without the Sparrows? LOL! I have to tell you that when I put the Park "away" for the winter season, I had to carefully pack up all the little birds... There was a moment of panic this spring as to WHERE I put them! I had visions of needing to re-make them Exactly the same.... !!! Yikes! Good thing I found them right where I had put them! LOL! As for the story, it is never far from my thoughts and dreams... it is the catching the sun and "finding" all the props at the last minute that takes so long! I am sure you know how it goes! Not to mention trying to convince all the characters of where to stand.... I Love doing it!!! More is on the way! :)

  7. Hi, Betsy - I've enjoyed reading this story; I'm so glad that it hasn't ended yet! You have such a special talent for setting your scenes so that the story and characters come to life. Your landscapes are beautiful as well; I can see the fountain flowing, and those birds are hopping all over the place chasing after the bread. I'm looking forward to the next exciting installment.
