At My Door....

The Leaves Are Falling.....

The Seasons shifted while I was away, Dear Readers, and now the days are noticeably shorter and colder and the Autumn colors are creeping into the hillsides. A few weeks ago as I was leaving the building where I work, I glanced down and noticed a Tiny but perfect Maple leaf on the pavement at my feet. I picked it up, and marveled that I had never Ever seen such a small leaf! It was almost small enough to work in the mini scale.... so I had to search to see if there were any others. I found one more and brought them home. Of course, they are a sign of an unhealthy tree with some ancient branches that did not produce full sized leaves.... but they make an amazing miniature! And they keep falling, and I keep picking them up.....

It is like with seashells on the beach...
once you discover there are tiny ones out there....
you must look and look....

And bring them home to join the others.....

A few more every day....

I just can't get over how perfect they are!

Yes, these are the real leaves!

It is such a lovely Fall afternoon!
Arthur has convinced Pollyanna to leave her miniatures
and come out for a walk...

The air smells of fallen leaves....

So many have fallen in the rains overnight.....

Pollyanna can hardly believe it is already Autumn!
Before they know it the Cold Wild Winds will come....
(She has been Very absorbed in her mini projects...!)

She can't help herself....
everything she sees makes her want to make tiny versions...

She is trying to explain this to Arthur....

He is trying to understand.... he really is!

Pollyanna is trying to think of Something she can make for him...
that would help him to see the magic of minis....
She is sure she will think of something!

And over at The Folly,
Will has noticed the fallen leaves...

They make hm feel rather melancholy.

He wishes he had a Sweetheart....
And he still misses Daphne,
even though he knows she's not the One.

Well, Dear Readers, I hope you enjoyed
 the stroll through the Leaves...
More and more are falling every day.

I collected these just this afternoon....
it rained hard yesterday knocking them from the branches!

And, as is the way of Vacations,
You Leave everything behind when you go...
but there is so much catching up to do when you return....
that delightful "away from it all" feeling vanishes quickly.
I hope to get caught up soon...
on reading and commenting on your blogs...
on making the lilac blossoms (one half of one so far this week!)...
on telling some Tall Tales....
But for now, I'm happily Falling
 back into my mini Worlds!

  2. Hi Betsy. The tiny leaves are marvels! I think jumbled into an autumn garden, you probably wouldn’t notice they were a little larger than 1:12. Hope you had a fantastic holiday! X

    1. Ha Ha! (I lost my mini rake on purpose!) The leaves are a treasure... but they might not last over the years... I am trying to use them while they are here. :)

  10. Hi, Betsy - Those tiny leaves are an exciting find, even if they do indicate the poor health of the tree. I'm sure that I've never seen such tiny real leaves, and now I'm determined to go out searching for some - as soon as they start to fall here. The leaves look lovely, and so autumn-like, scattered randomly on the porches and steps of your mini houses. Autumn is definitely in the air!

    1. Hi Marjorie! I am certain I have never seen such small Maple leaves before! They are so abundant around here... and I would have noticed the little ones! This has been a treat to search every day and find a few... looking for the tiniest ones! :)

  11. What a wonderful find! And although it's of course sad that these tiny leaves are the result of an unhealthy tree they are just perfect for your scenes. The shades of autumn colour are stunning... and it's so special that they're real. Somehow it's not amazing that these tiny leaves were lying on your way waiting for you to pick them up. And you made me smile with Arthur forcing himself to understand his wife's love for miniature and Pollyanna's plans of trying to raise his interest. But she should not forget that Arthur is always helpful when it comes to miniature projects… the sort of miniature projects that make is necessary to carry heavy dollhouses up to the attic. Btw... both should be a bit careful… there's a grey "beast" in their background having an eye on them… *LOL* I bet your lovely little tiger was fascinated too!

    Hugs
Birgit (who hopes you've had the most wonderful time together with your family)

    1. Dear Birgit, I was wondering if anyone was going to spot the "Beast" in the background! His name is Dusty and he is VERY shy! He was very curious as to what I was up to... and I did warn Pollyanna and Arthur... but Dusty was content to stay in the background! And yes, Arthur is a very helpful guy... but I think he is about to get "bitten" by the "minis bug"! LOL! It has be a lot of fun to search for the mini leaves.... I have quite a collection now. But I am not sure if I can keep them for future years... they dry and become so brittle... but we shall see! And yes, I had a wonderful time with my family, but the visit was way too short. :)

  14. Last night we changed the time from summer to winter time. But the drought that started this summer continues and the sun is shining bright. Leaves are starting to fall. A little. But so many trees are still green. Very odd.
Your miniature leaves are a great find. Maybe nature likes playing with minis too ;-)
