May... Oh My!...
In my Real Life garden, Dear Readers, the Lilac has almost no blossoms this year. It was a harsher than usual winter after a terribly dry Late Summer and Fall, so I assume the shrub is stressed. Because there were so few blossoms outside, I almost neglected to bring out the Blooming Lilac Shrub for it's annual glory show in my mini world! But yesterday morning the sun was shining into my work room and there was the bare winter shrub still in place... I quickly switched it out for the blooming one! And Oh, my goodness, it lit up my day! So beautiful! So elegant! So exactly what I had imagined it could be when I started my four seasons lilac project all those years ago! And I will admit, it reminded me that I must not give up on the Leafy Green Rhododendron shrub which has been neglected in the past month while I drove my son back and forth to Boston for medical visits. (He is now recovering from his operation and so far things are going as well as could be hoped!) So inspiring was this lilac that I got right to work on the Rhododendron... but that will be the subject of another post. This is all about the Lilac!
My workroom is on the Northeast corner of my house, and at this time of year the sun rises over the neighboring house to the east and shines briefly on the dollhouses... bringing that touch of realism I love when the sun comes to play. But it rises quickly, and early, so if you aren't quick, you miss the best sunshine.
Hello Betsy! I'm enchanted by your beautiful lilacs! They look so nice in the sunlight against your dollhouse. The lilacs in my yard aren't happy this year because our other trees have grown so much and they block the sunlight. I don't think there will be any blooms. So I'm happy that I can enjoy your photos! I'm happy that your son's surgery went well and that he's recovering as expected. Hugs, Michelle
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle! I appreciate your thoughts! I hope your lilacs will bloom for you again sometime... it would be a shame if they did not... the shrubs last for years and years even in abandoned homesteads in the woods. We can hope! :):)
DeleteI love how the lilac looks in the sun! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila! I am really glad to see a comment from you! I think of you often and hope you are doing well and finding some time for minis. Thank you for commenting! :)
DeleteDear Betsy,
ReplyDeleteGood to know that your son is recovering.
The sight of your lilacs in full sunshine is delightful. I wish we could change the weather in R/L like we can in our miniature world. The stunning bush in full bloom is magical.
Hugs, Drora
Hi Drora! Yes, it would be wonderful if we could control the weather... except think of the disagreements that would cause... Lol! I want sun when you want rain... it would be a mess. At least in the mini world I can have the snow when I want it!
DeleteI hope you are staying safe, I think of you and your family often.
Wow Betsy! Spring has sprung and it looks amazing! I agree that the sun sometimes at just the right time of day brings magic to minis. Your photos make the shrub look so realistic.
ReplyDeleteLate again... but not too late to admire the most gorgeous lilac shrub ever being built in miniature in all its glory! What a sight... and a good reminder of how beautiful these shrubs are when in bloom while here in my part of the world the blossoms withered brown by now. But speaking of my part of the world... the lilacs are first to bloom but the rhodies are right behind them so most of the time they spoil our eyes at the same time. In other words: When are you finally going to place the blooming rhododendron next to the blooming lilac??? I can't hardly wait to see what it going to be an overload of beauty in miniature. And I had to smile because I am totally convinced that Mr. Gnome is enjoying this sight too from his position at the entrance... I never saw him smile this much before... ;O)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your son's surgery went well and that he's doing well, fingers crossed for him to have fully recoverd in the meantime.
Hugs
Birgit
