Bursting In Bloom...
It is Almost the end of May, Dear Readers, and that means the Lilacs in this part of the World have long since given up their blossoms and ceded the day to the exuberant Rhododendrons! And I know that while a few of you might be hoping that someday you will see them both blooming side by side, I have never yet seen that happen in my RL garden, and can't assume it would happen here, even for a second. This year we have been experiencing a cool, very wet Spring with little sunshine. This is not a bad thing because last fall and winter we had a terrible drought, and now the rain has restored us to normal! But it does make it difficult to get lovely sunny pictures of the blooming Rhododendron shrub. This morning was no exception and I was despairing of getting anything to show you... and then the sun Almost broke through the clouds! I ran for my camera and snapped a dozen pictures... not quite sunny... but light enough to see the blossoms in detail! And I had to make sure you were also seeing the Summer Lilac in all its plain old green!
And, of course, I had to take lots of pictures and can't decide which are the best!
It turns the porch into a lovely little arbor....
ReplyDeleteBesos.
Wow, it turned out beautiful, you must have had a lot of work with that, amazing
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your rhododendron is glorious! It would definitely brighten up a rainy day. I'm sure the gnome is enjoying the blooms as well, wherever he is hiding. Our lilacs finally decided to bloom (I was so worried they wouldn't!) and they are gorgeous right now. They smell so nice. Sadly, I don't have a rhododendron to continue the blooming after the lilacs are done.
ReplyDeleteYour rhododendron arefantastic!
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing Betsy, regardless of the real life weather. I hope you see some sunshine soon.
ReplyDeleteDear Betsy.
ReplyDeleteYour rhododendron is magnificent! A glorious sight to brighten the day.
I love the tiny cute gnome under the bench.
Hugs, Drora
Que maravilla de rododendros y de jardín.
ReplyDeletePrecioso !!!!!
Impresionante !!! Ha quedado precioso.
ReplyDeleteNote to myself: Take evidence photos next year of lilacs and rhododendrons blooming at the same time! Because in my part of the world they do!!! But before you even start to argue... I noticed well that you pointed out that U.S. East coast lilacs and rhodies insist on single showtime and refuse to bloom together. *wink*
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, your lilac shrub is a beauty in every season - with our without blossoms and of course its vivid green is the perfect partner for the rhodie in all its red glory. My, what a sight!!! I will never get tired to repeat myself saying these shrubs are miniature masterpieces. And yes, they wrap the porch and turn it in the most splendid arbor... but to me they also seem to embrace the whole house.
And as always Mr. Gnome made me smile. He even left the porch to admire the rhodie! And even more was friendly enough to turn around for a moment to say "rhodiiiiiiiiieeeee" directly in your camera lense. And somehow I'm looking forward to that future day when you might find out where his home is... perhaps when working on the pond. Or creating a setting for the tree house. And isn't it funny... trying to imagine this brings my mind to its borders as after all the question is: Can something so perfect and beautiful become even more perfect and beautiful? Is an increase of perfection even possible at all? Hmm, I suppose as long as you and your magic hands are involved even the impossible might happen. ;O)
Thank you and the spring weather for these beautiful photos - I've enjoyed them so much.
Hugs
Birgit (who was once more much too late to drop by... *sigh*)
