Shedding A Little Light....

Oh So Little.....

It is that Time of year, Dear Readers, when it is so Dark.... Morning and Night.... that it is so hard to get good pictures of what little work has been accomplished in my Mini Worlds! You may recall that I mentioned I would be making a LOT of bricks for the Conservatory..... well I got started....

This was the total of what I accomplished on Saturday...

And Sunday I just diligently applied myself to Brick making and Gluing.....
It is surprisingly Slow work!

By Sunday night I had nearly completed the two pillars!

And here you can see them in place....

And you can also see the arched upper portion temporarily placed on top....
Still a Long way to go!

I must confess that it felt like I got nothing done!
And because you have been so kind as to nod agreeably as I bore you with pictures of Boring bricks....
I will add a few shots I took Early Saturday Morning of Sunlight shining onto the Folly...

The Winter sun slants low in the sky...
and for a moment it reaches far into the room and touches the Folly....

And from the inside you can see the light shining into the Bednook.....
which has been dressed with colorful patterned bedlinens and
layers of wool blankets since you last saw it.....

And the booknook is also graced with this brief Morning Light.....
That hushed moment at the start of the day....

And the Kitchen, too, catches the brief Morning Rays....
reminding us perhaps how Much there still is to be done....

And even the Livingroom is adorned with this Perfect morning light...
Where Daphne still sits pondering the revelations from All Hallows Eve!
She has sat here so many times before...
but mostly she has been accompanied by Will....
And she is just beginning to realize that she is enjoying being alone...
Free to think her own thoughts.....
And she has So much she needs to think about and make decisions about......
It has just always been so much easier to let Will lead the way!

She can't begin to understand What happened on Halloween...
when her Mother spoke to her through a crystal ball.....
Had she Imagined that?
She was going to have to talk to her Mother and try to get some answers....

And meanwhile.....
Will has been overseas....
On a buying Trip for his Antiques Store and Gallery.....

Roaming through all sorts of ancient Castles and Estates.....
seeking furnishings and Art worthy of his business....

He missed being at the Halloween Costume Ball at the Castle....
so he missed all the Excitement....
And even though he texted Daphne repeatedly...
She had left her phone at home....
And didn't get all his messages until later.
But after the Mysterious Vision of her Mother in the crystal Ball...
Daphne isn't thinking about Will!

Believe it or not, Dear Readers,
it only took a few moments for the Sun to slip entirely away.....
But for a brief Time it shone fully on the Solitary Sunflower....
still blooming beside the porch.....
Reminding me that there is so Little Light at this time of year....
But what there is can be Just Brilliant.....
Shedding just a Little More Light on Everything!

  1. Making bricks is a very slow job, but it's going to look amazing! Your folly looks very cosy, the real sunlight adds to the atmosphere.

  3. Here in The Netherlands the sunlight is what we need at this moment, we haven't had any since a whole week now. These pictures are so lovely.
Your conservatory looks great so far, Betsy, I like what your did with the foam in the middle. Yes, I can imagine that brick making is a boring and slow work, but at the end it will be wonderful.......

  10. How I envy you for these rays of light... around here it's grey... grey... and not to forget grey, a typical November in Northern Germany. But who am I to complain... no snow so far!!! Yeehah!!! But back to your light - you've managed to catch the light with your camera to take the most beautiful pictures... the atmosphere created is fantastic. And I admire you for your patience, cutting and glueing all these bricks in one setting - you must be a very patient lady. Oh, and not to forget, I'm glad that the story of Daphne goes on a little bit... I'm hoping for more. Soon. Real soon! ;O)

    Hugs
    Birgit

  14. It looks just like being in a real house! Beautiful.
The brick center section in the conservatory reminds me of the brick firewall in the art building at Putney. Indeed, you are patient. It will look marvelous.
    Lots of love,
    Mom

  15. It's been grey and went over here, the first snow has been predicted. I could use a lovely morning sun like the one bringing the folly to life. It looks lovely in there! You are on your way to becoming a Master Brickie :-) I love the arch connecting the two halves. And I am with Birgit: looking forward to more of Daphne's story real soon! :-)
    Hugs,
    Véronique

  16. It is wet and downcast even here in Sunny Singapore :). But I do love it at this time of the year even though it is a little melancholy. I am looking at your pictures with my music and can't help sighing.

It is a wonderful world you have created, Bets.

  18. Bricking is a slow process but it is worth at the end and you've done tremendous job applying them. Your conservatory is coming along pretty well. What is next? Mini hugs, Natalia

  19. Hi Betsy! Your brick work is really coming along and I know how you feel gluing them on one after the other but the way it is looking is really worth the effort! What a difference it has made already and it is going to look Fabulous! Visiting the Folly again was a nice surprise. I had not seen the little canopy and the bed linens and they also look Marvelous! What is it about Sunlight that makes everything so beautiful, even more than incandescent light does? You timed the photo shoot Perfectly!

  20. Oh, my, that is a lot of brick to lay --good luck!

The light looks purely magical the way it lit up your folly. I love the way the sun comes pouring in for a few minutes at my house this time of year. If only it lasted a little longer, right?
