Christmas Is Coming......

Leftovers......

Believe it or Not, Dear Readers, I have had No time for making minis in Weeks and weeks and weeks, and I am starting to feel a little desperate! There are so many projects partly done and even more waiting "in the wings" and I have Nothing new to show you in my Mini Worlds! Real Life has been a bit demanding of my Time and I feel as though I have accomplished Nothing! And with Christmas only a few weeks away, I am once again, Late to start working on drawing my annual Christmas card.... and it will absorb all of my spare time for the next few weeks. But All is not lost! As I was helping the Little People clean up after Thanksgiving, I noticed that there were more than a few "Leftovers" scattered throughout the various Houses! And I am not referring to the leftover pie that made it safely back to the Lovely Old Dollhouse! I happened to notice several Christmas decorations already in place on the mantle.... still Left Over from last Christmas!

Did you spot them?
I assure you, this is Not because we are Ahead of the Game!
(Even the clock has stopped and needs a new battery!)
So I decided to see if there were any other "Leftovers" from Last Christmas....

Helen and Pollyanna are discussing plans for some Holiday shopping...
And Arthur and Charles are explaining how they have other plans
for those exact times and couldn't possibly join them in shopping....
I didn't want to interrupt and was going to tiptoe away
when I spotted a small Leftover piece of Christmas.....

Did you spot it?
There is a little lace Heart ornament that had fallen off the tree
and was overlooked when all the ornaments were put away!
It always seems that there is one Leftover....
And then I thought to look in the other Houses
to see if there was any Christmas still there.
I glanced in the Castle Great Hall and spotted it at once!

The Wreath over the mantle was the most obvious,
and had been there until just before the Halloween party...
But there was another little Treasure that had been there all year!
Did you Spot it?

This Beautiful Leaping Reindeer was given to me by Birgit....
Amongst So Many other Treasures....
and this fellow somehow eluded the post Christmas clean-up!
I was now eagerly looking into all the Houses to see what I could find!

A quick glance into The Folly kitchen had me thinking there was nothing there.
 But then I looked again.....
Did you spot them?

Two Christmas themed coffee Mugs
were left hanging over the cupboard!

And upstairs, I glanced into the Book Nook.....

Aha! Christmas books!
Can you see them?

'A Christmas Carol' by Dickens is on the top of the shelf
along with a copy of  'The Night Before Christmas' by Clement Moore.

Surely this was not all...
I should check in the Shabby Sister House too!
A quick glance into the bedroom.....

Is that another copy of 'The Night Before Christmas'?

Has it really been there All year?
And in the kitchen where Sally May and Annabelle
love to spend time cooking....

(Yes, we were here just last week... but did you spot them...?)

Those are Christmas cookie cutters that never got put away!

And a pan of gingerbread men cooling on top of the fridge.....

And the Tea Cozy stitched by Rosanna....
with the Christmas Elf shoe design!
Surely, that will never get put away!

Well, Dear Readers, I hope you haven't minded
this dose of Holiday Left-overs!
Christmas is coming, and I just might be so Far Behind....
That I am Already ahead of myself!

  1. Ah that old devil Time...It seems even the little people can't get away from it...But with such beautiful things like the wreath, the little reindeer and the embroidered teacosy, why would they want to? I think the little people are much more relaxed about these things ;-)

    1. Hi Josje! I think they must be more relaxed.... or they would have complained! LOL! Time just goes too fast!

  2. You may not have been able to make stuff for quite some time, but you do know how to still make a wonderful post and a story of it that I've very much enjoyed! Besides, leftovers have always been the tastiest when it came to meals. I'm a fan of leftovers :p. And your final thoughts made me laugh out loud, so true, but so funny :D. Lovely Christmasdecorations they all are and it would be a shame to have them stuck away for most of the year anyway!

  3. Hi Betsy! I loved this trip through your houses to see your many and beautiful works and that you've shown us all of the beautiful Christmas items, which are scattered around in your dollhouses ;)! And because of these X-mas leftovers you've just found another story to tell us, how funny is that :D!?
Thank you for your lovely comment on my Pipistrellus (it's still an odd name for a bat, don't you think ;o) I really liked to read your words: "Now I know you are completely "batty"!!! LOL! (We say this to mean "crazy" in the best and wildest way!)" and especially your added explanation, because now I've learned something new in the English language again ;D!! Thanks to you Betsy!
    Warm hug, Ilona

  4. Hello Betsy,
How wonderful! I love that there are touches of Christmas in so many of your beautiful rooms. The wreath really is an incredible miniature. I am in the same boat and not had as much time as I would like to work on my minis, but if it's for the Christmas season, it's well worth it. Whatever you do, make sure you have fun my friend.
    Big hug,

  5. There is never enough time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's why I've decided to dump Christmas this year, scrooge that I seem to be becoming. Oh well, age has its perks. As Ilona said, the trip through your dollhouses was delightful!

    1. Hi Mom! I think you have earned the right to celebrate, or not, however you wish to! I know you are not really a Scrooge anyway! Too much is made of giving physical things.... when giving a Smile is sometimes a much better gift!

  6. Hi Betsy!
I usually still find the occasional Christmas tidbit a few weeks before Easter...in real life ...and the mini world. Oh well....
Hope life is treating you well. Want to let you know how much I appreciate the comments you leave on my posts. It means a lot that you are enjoying my literary endeavors.

  7. Hello Betsy,
It was great fun joining in the Christmas Treasure Hunt through all your interesting houses. I think you're way ahead of most of us, even though you might be behind yourself!

  8. I just love the expression of Marjorie about your "Christmas Treasure Hunt", yes, this is a perfect way to describe this lovely post through your beautiful dollhouse making so many discoveries... some funny, some unexpected - and finding out that you're in fact ahead of time! Wohooooo!!! I'm already really looking forward to your annual Christmas card - these are always highlights to me when you're showing them on your blog... but don't get stressed. Enjoy the season with everything it offers including cookies, candles, mulled wine etc. - your tiny dollhouse friends already do - I guess even Arthur and Charles who are very clever in getting themselves out of any Christmas shopping duties... ;O)

    Hugs

    1. Hi Birgit! The Christmas card is occupying all my spare time. I still am afraid it won't be done by Christmas. As you know by now... this is a repeating problem! LOL! And we can't tell how good it will look until I am done, either, which adds to the anxiety..... but I just have to put my best effort forward... We shall see what we shall see! And yes, Arthur and Charles have figured out a thing or two! LOL!

  13. I have to confess I came here hoping to see your annual Xmas card. I do love them. But what I saw blew my mind too. Betsy, those drawings on the ceiling, oh my, they are a wonder of the mini world.

You have been so sweet, Bets, popping in to my blog every once in a while just to check how I am. I am sorry that most times, I have felt an inability to venture here or even in my mini world.

This world was a haven but sometimes haven is exactly where you don't want to go because it is so hard when you have time and space to remember.

Thank you for your comments on my blig post, Bets. You are one of the reasons I decided it's time to be back. :) I am even making minis again.

I think of you often... and drop in on your blog from time to time because what you have created is such a lyrical place to visit! (I have not wanted to be a pest...!)I hope you will be able to keep creating.... and sharing what you can! I hope it helps you to heal from your loss. I know what you mean about not even being able to go there because the pain catches up with you in quiet moments. I am so glad you are feeling like making minis again!
As for the Christmas card.... I am still drawing it... it is late.... I am hoping it will turn out okay.... I am in that place of not being sure but working at it anyway. We will see. I have a long way to go!
      Thank you for coming back!
